Hi guys!
As you know, I'm away at Knowledge Bowl in Budapest (with your wonderful Marko and David - wish them luck!), so I'm not here for our double on Thursday.
During class, please complete the following as IOC prep. Please note that you should HAND IN YOUR COMPLETED WORK to the cover teacher, as I will check it when I return.
Work:
1) in your poetry packets, read the poem "Blue Bayou" and annotate it for style, rhyme, devices, etc.
2) fill in a poetry analysis worksheet for the poem
3) write ONE SEE (statement, example, explanation) paragraph describing the purpose of the poem and 3 ways Hughes gets this purpose across (pick 3 devices and explain them). Be sure to fully unpack the device used (example: not just that there is a metaphor, but what is the metaphor expressing) and link your examples back to the purpose.
*** Please HAND IN worksheets AND paragraphs (you can hand write them or type them and print them) as I would like to see that you worked on these! We will grade them together next class against criterion B of the IOC criteria; this is great prep for your upcoming IOCs!!
