Hey all,
Over Spring Break, you should do the following:
1) Plan and begin/finish writing your Written Task on Hughes.
THESE ARE DUE MAY 6th (FIRST FRIDAY BACK FROM BREAK).
If you're doing a creative task, ensure that your understanding of the overall theme(s) and concerns of Hughes's poetry shines through your task, and that your text type is suited to your ideas and purpose!
If you're in HL and choosing to write a critical essay for this unit, ensure you understand what the question is asking, pick 1-3 poems (MAX) as your text(s), and bring in evidence throughout the essay.
2) READ! Continue reading The Things They Carried. You MUST read the following 4 stories over the break:
"The Man I Killed"
"Speaking of Courage"
"Notes"
"In the Field"
*Annotate and take notes on the characterization, conflicts, and theme development you discover in these stories, and consider how style and literary devices help convey these elements.
3) Sleep, rest, and enjoy the break!
