Here is a paper 1 review document on text types we worked on with last year's grade 12s and your own document - it should help you review key features of different text types and how to analyze them.

Remember, for Paper 1, you are looking at what the text is doing overall (the big picture), its purpose, and how it conveys its purpose and communicates ideas to its audience throughit TEXT TYPE, literary and stylistic devices of that text type, and language usage.
** Don't forget key terms here, like connotative diction, imagery, punctuation, syntax, tone, pathos, ethos, logos, space, layout, etc. Review your devices and notes! (especially the 'big 5').
The Literary and Stylistic Devices Review document is a good place to start!
Paper 2
* Unpack your question - define any terms in the intro (ex: atmosphere, alienation, setting, society...)
* Unpack any command terms (to what extent, how, in what ways, discuss, consider, examine, etc.) and make sure you use them to inform your answer
* Make sure you have an ARGUMENT in your thesis - you have a clear idea of what you are trying to prove, and ideas about what the writers of these works are trying to highlight in their respective texts
* Don't forget: themes, characters and characterization, narrator, POV, setting, stylistic/structural features, symbols...how do these help the writer convey meaning?
Effects on the readers - then and now?
