This week, we have been looking at Owen's "Anthem for Doomed Youth". Today, you should:
1. Finish the table/chart in their poetry handouts that we began earlier this week, filling out the front AND back with various features Owen uses to convey his messages to the readers about war.
2. Use the information from the chart to INDIVIDUALLY write a fully developed SEE x 3-4 paragraph on "Anthem for Doomed Youth". You should have a topic sentence, and 3-4 Statements, Examples, and FULL Explanations that link back to the purpose you are trying to prove (which you state in the topic sentence). You can use the sample paragraphs on "Exposure" that I gave you this week, as well as the propaganda posters you wrote earlier in this unit which are also on this blog.
- handout on the SEE paragraph structure is below if you've lost it!
3. If you finish these, you can peer edit one another's work - you can also do this as you write, but each student should write his/her own paragraph for practice.
This is homework for the first class back after the break if it is not finished, and it is excellent preparation for the test.
** You can repeat this process with any other poems from the booklet for more practice, if you'd like!
